Thinking back to Summer When I was just a kid Playing hide and seek And all the spots we hid
We often kicked the can Played tag, and hopscotch too Most of all we loved it As it meant there was no school
But something else comes to mind Of what we use to do Every single evening Something we so looked forward to
After supper and dishes The neighborhood came to life Sitting on the front porch Husbands, children, and wives
Watching all the sunsets And the stars that came to life Sitting and visiting with neighbors On those special Summer nights
Over time things have changed An era went away The front porch lost its meaning A time from olden days
